Manual Labor Terry Black's Barbecue Austin, Austin, TX, US 3 days ago Requisition ID: 1405 The Guest Experience Attendant is responsible for creating a welcoming, energetic, and hospitable experience throughout the Terry Black’s Barbecue dining room. This position spends the majority of the shift actively moving throughout the dining room, interacting with guests, anticipating their needs, maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the space, and making sure every guest feels taken care of. This is not a position that waits for a guest to ask for help. The Guest Experience Attendant is expected to recognize opportunities to provide service, engage with guests, and take ownership of the dining room experience from the moment a guest sits down until they leave. Hospitality Expectations At Terry Black’s, hospitality goes beyond being friendly. The Guest Experience Attendant should actively look for ways to make each visit better. Every shift, this position should: Be visible: Stay in the dining room and actively engage with guests. Be proactive: Don't wait for someone to ask for something. Be observant: Notice empty drinks, full trash, dirty tables, confused guests, or someone looking for assistance. Be genuine: Talk to guests like people, not transactions. Own the experience: If you see something that needs attention, take care of it or find someone who can. Create memorable moments: Look for small opportunities to go above and beyond. Key Responsibilities Maintain a constant presence throughout the dining room and guest areas. Welcome and engage with guests in a genuine, friendly manner. Check in with tables throughout their visit to ensure guests have everything they need. Anticipate guest needs before being asked whenever possible. Assist guests with beverages, condiments, utensils, napkins, to-go supplies, and other needs. Clear unnecessary plates, trays, cups, and trash from tables throughout the guest experience. Keep tables, chairs, floors, beverage stations, condiment areas, and other guest-facing areas clean and organized. Help guests locate seating and assist families, elderly guests, or guests who may need additional help. Answer questions about the restaurant, menu, barbecue, and overall Terry Black’s experience. Recognize special occasions and opportunities to make a guest's visit more memorable. Quickly address guest concerns and involve a manager when additional support is needed. Communicate guest feedback and recurring service opportunities to restaurant leadership. Work closely with the cashier, meat market, bar, bussing, and management teams to ensure a smooth guest experience. Maintain dining room readiness during peak periods by staying ahead of table turnover, cleanliness, and guest needs. Thank guests as they leave and invite them to visit again. Qualifications Naturally friendly, outgoing, and comfortable interacting with a wide variety of guests. Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail. Ability to recognize guest needs without waiting to be asked. Positive attitude and team-first mentality. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant. Previous restaurant, hospitality, retail, or customer service experience preferred but not required. Must be able to remain on your feet and actively move throughout the restaurant for the majority of the shift. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, reach, lift, and carry items throughout the shift. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds as needed. Ability to work in a busy restaurant environment that may include indoor and outdoor guest areas. What Success Looks Like A successful Guest Experience Attendant creates a dining room where guests rarely have to look for help. Tables are clean, the dining room stays organized, guest needs are handled quickly, and there is a noticeable hospitality presence throughout the restaurant.
