NURSE ANESTHETIST (CRNA) (TEMP position)

These positions are not covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Michigan and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U of M Professional Nurse Council. * In addition: Unit- based temporary employees who have worked 400 hours in a calendar year then become a Per Diem employee and have an obligation to pay dues or service fees as covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Michigan and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U of M Professional Nurse Council. * Once the employee meets the 400 hour threshold, they then are a union member for the duration of employment as Per Diem. Temporary APRN employees and MVC temporary employees are not eligible for Per Diem status

Responsibilities*

Provide anesthesia and anesthesia related care to facilitate diagnostic, therapeutic and/or surgical procedures to all patients regardless of age under the medical direction of an anesthesiologist, working collaboratively in a team environment. Prepare preoperative assessments including health histories and physical examinations. Develop the Anesthesia Care Plan with the anesthesiologist. Initiate and maintain appropriate perioperative anesthesia care. Maintain appropriate patient records including quality assurance documentation. Complete postoperative evaluations in accordance with department policies. Participate in ongoing projects. Support perioperative providers. Other duties or projects as assigned. Function in accordance with all institutional policies and guidelines. Maintain licensure, certification, credentialing, and current BLS and ACLS status at all times. This position requires radiation exposure and the requirement to wear the appropriate (PPE) personal protective equipment. Must be self-directed, reliable, demonstrate initiative and motivation to work independently, and demonstrate excellent communication and problem solving skills.

Required Qualifications*

Current and accurate resume and application must be completed. Minimum of a Master's degree from an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program. Current Michigan RN license and certification as a nurse anesthetist. Two years FTE of nurse anesthesia experience. Current ACLS certification.

Desired Qualifications*

Five years of adult ICU nursing experience. Five years FTE of nurse anesthesia experience. Demonstration of appropriate interpersonal and communication skills. Doctoral degree from an accredited educational program. Wear the appropriate (PPE) personal protective equipment as this position requires radiation exposure and the requirement to wear the appropriate PPE.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Work Schedule

Hours: Based on unit needs. Request that provider offer 1-2 days/week, primarily 0650-1520 Monday-Friday. Potential option for longer shifts. Shift: Day

PER DIEM/UNIT-BASED TEMPORARY NURSE GUIDELINES Managers may establish additional guidelines based upon individual unit scheduling requirements. Therefore, it is recommended that managers and per diem nurses or unit-based temporary meet to discuss specific unit expectations. Per Diem or unit-based temporary nurses are to be scheduled after all regular staff are scheduled per contract language. *Guidelines apply to all Per Diem or unit-based temporary nurses regardless of hire date.
