Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic ER/MedSurg/Swing Bed unit in a critical access setting. This position offers a unique opportunity to provide care to a diverse patient population in a challenging and rewarding environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients, including initial assessment and management of trauma patients in the ER.
• Administer medications and treatments, including IV medication, fluid and blood administration, with a focus on geriatric patients.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to create and implement patient care plans.
• Read and interpret telemetry strips and respond accordingly.
• Utilize team nursing approach to manage patient assignments effectively.
• Float to MedSurg and Swing Bed as required, ensuring continuity of patient care.

Unit Information

• Department: ER / MedSurg / Swing Bed
• Trauma Level: Critical Access (Rural Location)
• Number of Beds: 25
• Nurse:Patient Ratio: 1:8, utilizing team nursing
• Common Patient Diagnoses: Dementia, dependent older adults, diabetes, rehab/restorative care post acute illness, COVID, and initial care for trauma patients.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience preferred.
• Valid certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC.
• Experience with dementia, geriatric patient care, and IV management.
• Ability to titrate medications and manage common drips, including electrolytes, hypertensive medications, and IV antibiotics.
• Previous travel experience not required.

Schedule & Requirements

• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts, including night shifts.
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
• Holiday Requirement: Alternating/As scheduled.
• Self-Scheduling: Team scheduling with the possibility of block scheduling upon request.
• Floating Requirements: Support in ER/MedSurg as needed.

Orientation

• Three shifts of unit-specific orientation will be provided to ensure comprehensive preparation for the role.

Dress Code

Scrubs are to be worn, with no specific color requirement.
