Registered Nurse (RN) OTP Location: Klawock, Alaska 99925 Facility: Alicia Roberts Medical Center Address: 7300 Klawock Hollis Highway, Klawock, AK 99925 Salary: $85,000 $116,000 annually Employment Type: Full-Time Specialty: Registered Nurse / Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) Position Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care across the lifespan in accordance with organizational standards, policies, evidence-based practice, and Alaska nursing requirements. The RN will provide OTP medication and nursing services in collaboration with providers, clinic staff, and leadership. The position is responsible for safe medication administration, patient assessment, care coordination, documentation, medication-room operations, quality control, and compliance with clinical and regulatory requirements. The RN will deliver culturally sensitive, patient-centered care while working closely with an interdisciplinary team to promote positive patient outcomes and patient safety. Key Responsibilities Patient Care Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care. Implement and evaluate nursing interventions and patient responses. Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to provider orders and organizational policies. Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions or escalation. Provide patient and family education regarding medications, treatment, care plans, and follow-up needs. Deliver culturally responsive and patient-centered care. OTP & Medication Services Provide OTP medication and nursing services in collaboration with providers and clinic staff. Maintain medication inventory and supplies not managed through the Warehouse PAR system. Complete required quality-control checks for point-of-care testing. Manage daily medication-room opening and closing procedures. Ensure safe, accurate, and compliant medication handling and administration. Communicate effectively with providers, clinic staff, patients, and other departments. Nursing Judgment & Clinical Decision-Making Apply independent nursing judgment when assessing patients and determining appropriate interventions. Recognize significant changes in patient condition and determine when provider notification, consultation, or escalation is necessary. Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise individualized nursing care plans. Incorporate clinical findings, patient preferences, cultural considerations, safety standards, and regulatory requirements into nursing decisions. Maintain accountability for nursing decisions, delegated responsibilities, and patient-care outcomes. Practice within the scope of an Alaska-licensed Registered Nurse and organizational policy. Care Coordination & Documentation Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care. Facilitate referrals, follow-up care, and continuity of services. Accurately and timely document assessments, interventions, medications, and outcomes in the electronic health record. Advocate for patients and assist them in navigating the healthcare system. Quality, Safety & Compliance Practice within RN scope of practice and applicable regulatory requirements. Follow medication safety, infection prevention, and patient-safety standards. Participate in quality and performance improvement initiatives. Maintain required clinical competencies and certifications. Report adverse events, near misses, and unsafe conditions according to policy. Teamwork & Professional Practice Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, flexibility, and teamwork. Provide appropriate guidance and delegation to ancillary staff. Support orientation, mentoring, and education of staff, students, and peers. Float to other departments or assignments as needed. Required Qualifications Education & Licensure Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program. Current, unrestricted Alaska RN license. Current BLS certification. Clinical Competency Assessment required within 3 months and every 3 years. High-Risk Competency required within 3 months and annually thereafter. Specialty-specific certifications applicable to the practice area must be obtained within six months of hire. Experienced Nurses New to Specialty: Required specialty-specific and advanced certifications must be obtained within six months of hire, as applicable. Experienced Specialty Nurses: Must provide evidence of current required certifications applicable to the position at the time of hire. Float Nurses: Nurses floating into other specialty areas must complete certifications required for the highest-level specialty in which they provide care. Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel. Ability to work in a moderate-to-high noise clinical environment. Must comply with workplace safety practices and report injuries or unsafe conditions. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be an Alaska-licensed RN with current BLS certification who is comfortable providing direct patient care, medication administration, patient assessment, documentation, and care coordination in an OTP/clinic environment .
