Job Overview Position: Phlebotomist 5382 Location: Asheville NC Schedule: 8am-5pm M-F Projected duration: 3 months + potential for permanent employment. Key Responsibilities Assist in performing assigned duties, troubleshoot, train, and provide workflow recommendations. Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge, record maintenance data and decontamination, update patient information. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures courteously. Demonstrate technique using straight or butterfly needles. Fully understand all of the physicians' orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, freeze specimens as required. Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% correctness. Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperature. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and review laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Minimum Qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification in the state of employment. Minimum of 6 months’ work experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting. Minimum of 2 years of experience in phlebotomy, including pediatric and geriatric experience.
