The Role

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will serve as a core engine driving our steel fabrication projects from initial award to final closeout. Working side-by-side with experienced Project Managers, you will coordinate key project workflows, interface with field teams and clients, and ensure our structural and miscellaneous steel projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and on budget.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

• Project Execution: Partner with Lead Project Managers to drive multiple high-profile steel fabrication projects through every phase of construction.
• Technical Submittals & RFIs: Review structural drawings, manage shop drawing submittal logs, draft clear RFIs, and resolve field and detailing challenges efficiently.
• Procurement & Scheduling: Track material orders, coordinate fabrication timelines with our shop floor, and ensure seamless delivery schedules to field installation teams.
• Change Order Management: Assist with project cost tracking, review scope changes, and help price and document change orders accurately.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong relationships with general contractors, detailers, vendors, and field personnel through proactive communication.
• Quality & Compliance: Support quality assurance procedures to guarantee all deliverables align with project specifications and AISC standards.

What You Bring

• Drawing Literacy: Demonstrated ability to read and interpret structural steel contract drawings, specifications, and shop details.
• Tech-Savvy Operations: Strong proficiency in Excel and standard Microsoft Office apps.
• Organization & Drive: Proven ability to manage competing priorities and keep complex projects on schedule in a dynamic construction environment.
• Industry Tools (Plus): Hands-on experience with construction management and steel software (e.g., Tekla EPM/FabSuite, Bluebeam, Procore, Fabtrol) is highly valued.
• Growth Mindset: High initiative, natural problem-solving ability, and clear written and verbal communication.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic or working knowledge of structural/miscellaneous steel fabrication and AISC standards.
• Familiarity with construction sequencing, material tracking, and field installation.
