Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking experienced Hospitalist Physicians for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity in Hattiesburg, Mississippi . This assignment supports one of Mississippi's premier regional referral hospitals, offering physicians the opportunity to practice high-acuity inpatient medicine within a well-established hospitalist program backed by extensive specialty resources.


Physicians may work as either a Rounder or Dedicated Admitter , providing flexibility while practicing within a collaborative, physician-focused inpatient environment.

Schedule
Multiple hospitalist roles are available.

Rounder Position

• Dedicated inpatient rounding service
• Assigned to a single hospital floor
• Approximately 33-bed service
• Supervision of one Advanced Practice Provider (APP)
• Dedicated admitting physician available
• Occasional shared admissions during periods of exceptionally high volume

Dedicated Admitter Position

• 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM schedule
• Focus exclusively on Emergency Department admissions
• No APP supervision responsibilities
• Dedicated admissions workflow

Clinical Scope
Provide comprehensive inpatient hospital medicine services while collaborating closely with specialists, nursing leadership, and multidisciplinary care teams.
Responsibilities may include:

• Daily inpatient rounding
• Management of medically complex adult patients
• Coordination of discharge planning
• Collaboration with consulting specialists
• Participation in multidisciplinary care planning
• Oversight of one APP (Rounder role only)
• Admission evaluations from the Emergency Department (Admitter role only)

Practice Environment
Practice within a mature hospital medicine program supporting one of Mississippi's leading regional referral centers.

Candidate Requirements

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Active Mississippi medical license (or ability to obtain)
• Recent inpatient Hospital Medicine experience
• Comfortable managing medically complex adult patients
• Strong communication and team-based care skills
