Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Large Animal Surgery Position Summary: The Department of Large Animal Medicine at the University of Georgia invites applications for a clinical‑track faculty position in large animal surgery at the rank of Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. The successful candidate will join a team of four surgeons on a daytime elective large animal surgery service (≈ 85 % equine, remaining small ruminants, companion pigs, camelids, cattle) and support 3–4 surgery residents and four rotating interns. Faculty duties are expected to occupy 65‑70 % of the year, with an emphasis on clinical instruction and service. Responsibilities Instruction: Participate in clinical rotations, didactic and laboratory courses, and share teaching responsibilities with the department’s six board‑certified surgeons. Service: Provide client and referring veterinarian service during daytime elective periods, support occasional after‑hours emergencies, promote a high‑quality surgical caseload, and develop continuing‑education programs for veterinarians and the public. Research: Engage in scholarly activities related to clinical service and teaching. An independent research program is not required; collaboration within the department and across campus is encouraged. Qualifications DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited college of veterinary medicine. Board‑certified in large‑animal surgery (or eligible for board certification) and valid Georgia veterinary license. Minimum 4 years post‑DVM residency experience for Clinical Assistant/Associate, 9 years for Associate, 14 years for Professor (at least five years in rank‑appropriate clinical role). Evidence of clinical, laboratory, and/or didactic teaching experience preferred. Work Details Location: Athens, GA (Athens Area). Start date negotiable, potentially as early as June 1 2026.
