Job Summary

Chartwells at Michigan Technological University is seeking an  Assistant Director of Retail Dining to join our dynamic dining team in beautiful Houghton, Michigan. This is an exciting opportunity to lead retail dining operations at a nationally recognized university known for its strong STEM programs, culinary culture, and welcoming community.

In this role, you'll collaborate with students, staff, and campus partners to deliver outstanding dining experiences while developing a positive and engaging environment for guests and team members alike.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Works with the Chefs and management team in creating nutritious and top quality food.  
• Implements new culinary programs in conjunction with the marketing and culinary teams.  
• Maintains excellent relationships with the clients and students.  
• Manages, trains, and develops associates.  
• Performs other duties as assigned.    

Qualifications:  

• 2+ years of food service management experience. 
• Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations. 
• Strong leadership and communication skills.  
• Financial experience and business acumen skills. 
• Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet. 
• Associate’s degree is preferred.
