The Opportunity: In this full-time, on-site role, the Behavioral Health Technician provides direct support to clients working through Greater Boston Addiction Centers treatment programs. Reporting within the Operations department, you'll play a hands-on role in helping clients feel safe, supported, and understood throughout their recovery journey, while helping the clinical team maintain accurate documentation and a stable treatment environment. This role follows a Tuesday through Saturday schedule, with a potential stipend available for evening shifts.

What You'll Do:

• Support clients through daily program activities with a nonjudgmental, empathetic approach
• Actively listen to clients and build rapport and trust to support engagement in treatment
• Observe and accurately document client behavior, mood, and any signs of crisis, withdrawal, or relapse
• Maintain clear, professional documentation and charting in accordance with facility standards
• Communicate effectively with both clients and the clinical team to support continuity of care
• Recognize and respond calmly to mental health crises or agitation, using de-escalation techniques as needed
• Respect and support clients from diverse backgrounds and life experiences
• Apply a basic working knowledge of mental health and substance use disorders, including the 12-step model, in day-to-day client interactions

Requirements:

• Required: High School Diploma or GED
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to actively listen without judgment
• Ability to build rapport and trust with clients
• Basic understanding of mental health disorders, substance use disorders, and the 12-step model
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and skilled in de-escalating conflict or agitation
• No prior experience required
• Ability to successfully pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening
• Reliable availability for a Tuesday through Saturday schedule
• Ability to stand, walk, and actively engage with clients throughout a shift
• Preferred: CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Prior experience in a behavioral health, substance use treatment, or related human services setting
• Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) system

• Pay range: $20.00 to $22.00 per hour
