Job ID: 53327Location: Charleston, SCEmployment Type: Direct HireSpecialty: Public SectorIndustry: Government/Public AdministrationWork Mode: On-SitePosted: 2026-09-10SUMMARY Charleston County is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Executive Associate of Information Technology to deliver information systems support for the educational mission of the school district and to ensure cooperation and collaboration between Information Technology staff and decentralized technology support personnel in different schools and divisions. With limited direction, plans, coordinates and implements a comprehensive information technology suite including security and business intelligence in support of strategic goals and operational/educational needs. Provides leadership, which promotes and nurtures the development, assessment and maintenance of the information technology activities. Demonstrates knowledge of effective and innovative strategies, technologies, methodologies and practices that will enhance the division’s mission in supporting the operational/ educational processes of the school district.Reports to: Chief Financial OfficerLocation: Charleston, SCKEY RESPONSIBILITIESCoordinates all district information technology resources including data, voice and web to include cameras, remote access; and electronic gates and marquees while ensuring adequate access to information systems; Coordinates, collaborates and communicates as needed between Information Technology and (a) all schools, divisions and departments, (b) senior leadership, (c) outside vendors and service providers, and (d) the public; Integrates technology into the work of the district to enhance instruction and operations; monitor regulatory changes and technology trends in order to forecast the impact of those changes/trends on the district; Leads Business Intelligence and Information Management Office including securing, maintaining, updating, testing and producing associated software; Manages all aspects of information technology security including compliance, firewalls, intrusion detection, content filters, disaster recovery/business continuity and other network security techologies. Planning, installation and maintenance of efficient, innovative information delivery systems and technical support; Lead technology staff to develop and maintain an up-to-date technology strategic plan; Develops comprehensive policies and procedures regarding information technology; Identifies alternative sources of revenue for funding of district technologies including grants and gifts including E-rate; Manages the technology department and district-wide software budgets; Leads and supervises the administrative duties and evaluates the performance of the information technology staff; Supports the implementation of Power School and District data inquiry systems and Freedom of Information Act requests; Liason for the IT Steering Committee and represents the District at area, state and national technology organizational meetings; Advises the Superintendent, Chief Operating Officer and Senior Leadership Team on development, assessment, and maintenance of District-wide IT needs. Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, policies, codes, etc. Remains aligned with the Innovation Digital Learning staff on research, knowledge and best practices to help teachers to integrate technology into the curriculum to maximize student learning. Assumes other duties as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer. QUALIFICATIONSEducation & TrainingBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology Management, Business Administration, Telecommunciations or related field OR an equivalent combination of education, certification(s), and information technology work experience of more than 13 years Strong management and administrative skills; experience working with multiple organizational units Certification in the IT industry such as networking or Microsoft preferred. Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Education, Business Administration or related field; or extensive professional experience in information technology and telecommunications management preferred. Experience in K-12 Educational environment preferred. Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver’s license. COMPENSATIONThe salary range at the time of hire is expected to be between $124,281 – $241,363.
