Seeking a  QC Lab Chemist for a four month contract, to ensures accurate, timely analysis of in-process materials, finished products, and shipments, while upholding strong health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards. Key responsibilities include managing lab instruments and testing processes, developing and maintaining analytical methods, supporting new product analysis, driving quality system improvements (ISO/SQF), and developing lab personnel.

Essential Functions

• Comply fully with OSHA, EPA, DOT, SQF, and all company HSE policies and procedures
• Champion HSE culture through active participation in initiatives and accountability
• Audit and edit lab documents
• Generate and share Statistical Quality Control data with Manufacturing, Technical Service, and customers
• Maintain QC Lab records (USP documentation, equipment calibration, etc.)
• Support Manufacturing, Technical Service, and customers with analytical questions
• Develop and improve inspection methods, including training staff on new methods
• Support Pilot Plant/R&D during new product development
• Identify and implement new instrumentation and equipment as needed
• Manage inventory and expiration dates of critical spare parts and supplies
• Maintain reliable instrumentation (GC, GC headspace, LC, GPC, TOC, NIR, AA, ICP, FTIR, Brookfield & Kinematic Viscosity, Karl Fischer, etc.), including PM schedules, troubleshooting, and calibration
• Train and reinforce best practices for QC Technicians
• Troubleshoot and resolve analytical issues promptly
• Design and run precision/accuracy studies (Gage R&R, Round Robin)
• Purchase lab supplies and equipment
• Provide technical and personnel leadership
• Ensure ISO, SQF, and FDA compliance; drive continuous quality improvement
• Support HR processes and initiatives

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related science (required)
• Master's Degree preferred

Experience / Skills

• 5+ years related experience, ideally in manufacturing
• Lab instrument maintenance/troubleshooting experience preferred
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Solid analytical and project management skills
• Ability to master product, process, and equipment knowledge
• Proficient in MS Office and SAP
