Responsibilities Performs basic diagnostics and repairs on equipment and established products as requested by the Service Manager and Service Writer. Prepares all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments. Maintains condition of shop, vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment. Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments. Complete dis-assembly and inspection, as efficiently as possible, so parts may be ordered and machine work can be scheduled promptly. Maintain records and account for all time, parts, and supplies used in repairing and servicing both customer and dealership equipment. As a Heavy Equipment Shop Technician, you will be working in the shop (with occasional work required outside in varying weather conditions) to repair, conduct maintenance, and address any customer concerns or questions regarding our fleet of John Deere equipment. Job Requirements Willingness to learn. Experience working as a mechanic or technician on heavy construction, industrial or diesel equipment is strongly preferred for shop technician. Basic Service Technician or Mechanic certification preferred. Recent and regular computer usage, specifically in running codes and submitting work order information is strongly preferred. Must have excellent time management skills. Proficient oral and written communication skills. High School Diploma or equivalent experience required. Strong communication skill and self-motivated. Physical Demands Physical Effort: Shop Mechanics work on machines in the shop and Field Technicians work onsite at customer locations; lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly without assistance. They must be able to move on/under machines to perform repairs and services. They often stand for long periods and may kneel, bend, or lie on their backs to perform repairs, services, and/or maintenance. Working Conditions: Shop work involves dirt, grease, fumes, cuts, bruises, strains, loud noises, etc., with safety procedures and PPE required. Field technicians are exposed to outdoor conditions and must maintain safety PPE and safe driving records. Travel: Little to none for shop tech; daily for field tech.
