Information Systems Security Officer

Overview The Aerospace Corporation is a federally funded research and development center focused on space programs. As part of the Security Operations, Collateral Information Security Department, this position supports national space initiatives through leadership in information assurance. Responsibilities Establish, monitor, and maintain classified information system security compliance under the Risk Management Framework, from conception through decommission. Assist the ISSM in meeting the organization’s responsibilities related to classified information systems. Ensure approved procedures for clearing, sanitizing, and destroying hardware and media are executed. Develop policies and procedures for data handling, computers, and networks. Coordinate changes or modifications to hardware, software, or system configurations with the ISSM and Authorization Official. Create and maintain information system Assessment & Authorization packages using eMASS. Manage the incident handling process for classified information system incidents. Oversee data transfers for users between systems of like and differing classification levels. Conduct continuous monitoring of classified information systems. Collect, review, and document audit records. Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to junior ISSO team members. Manage the enterprise’s collateral wide area network. Qualifications Minimum Level III: 5–8 years of relevant experience; High School Diploma; advanced understanding of the Risk Management Framework and Assessment & Authorization processes; experience implementing NIST 800-53, DAAPM, and related IA doctrine; DoD 8140 Certification (Security+, CISSP, CISM); DoD Secret clearance (or higher). Minimum Level IV: 9+ years of relevant experience; High School Diploma; advanced understanding of the Risk Management Framework and Assessment & Authorization processes; experience implementing NIST 800-53, DAAPM, and related IA doctrine; DoD 8140 Certification (Security+, CISSP, CISM); DoD Secret clearance (or higher). Desirable Additions Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Cyber Security, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field. 9+ years of experience in the Risk Management Framework. Demonstrated project management and stakeholder coordination skills. Experience managing or achieving accreditation for enterprise-wide area networks.
