Role Overview The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) provides patient-centered, occupation-based treatment plans for individuals of all ages, collaborating closely with occupational therapists, patients, families, and healthcare teams. The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) provides patient-centered, occupation-based treatment plans for individuals of all ages, collaborating closely with occupational therapists, patients, families, and healthcare teams. Key Responsibilities Follow and adjust treatment plans based on patient response, communicating with and documenting discussions with evaluating therapists. Implement treatment activities considering patients' physical, cognitive, and behavioral needs. Educate patients, families, and caregivers using effective teaching methods. Complete therapeutic interventions, including range of motion measurements and training in activities of daily living (ADLs). Document all activities accurately in the electronic medical record and communicate progress to referring providers. Collaborate with team members, serve as a resource for conflict resolution, and participate in quality improvement activities. Maintain compliance through ongoing education and adhere to program requirements. Qualifications & Skills Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. Ability to adapt activities to individual patient needs and limitations. Strong communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal. Ability to document clearly and professionally.
