Medical Technologist

Location: Bethel, AK

Assignment Duration: This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule: Variable - 8 hour shifts, including days, evenings, or nights.

Job Description: Under the direction of the laboratory manager, the Medical Technologist is responsible for performing laboratory tests, conducting quality control procedures, and communicating effectively with physicians, nurses, and patients.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct laboratory tests across various disciplines including chemistry, blood bank, hematology, and microbiology.
• Ensure strict adherence to quality control protocols.
• Provide direction and support to Medical Laboratory Assistants.
• Maintain effective communication with healthcare team members regarding test results and patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field required.
• Board eligible by NCA or ASCP, with the expectation to complete board certification within one year of employment.
• 1 to 3 years of relevant experience or a formal student internship in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Certification at MT by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or CLS by National Accrediting Agency (NCA) required within one year of employment.
• Proficiency in clinical laboratory instrumentation as a generalist.
