Salary Range:

$180,000 - $320,000

Academic Neurologist - Epileptologist

Our organization, in collaboration with a prominent medical school, is on the lookout for an Academic Epileptologist to join a clinician or clinician-scientist track. The successful candidate will become part of a dynamic epilepsy team that provides both inpatient and outpatient services, collaborating closely with specialists in neurosurgical treatments for epilepsy.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must possess either an M.D. or D.O. degree. Completion of a fellowship in Epilepsy or Clinical Neurophysiology is essential, including experience with continuous video-EEG monitoring in inpatient environments such as ICUs and Epilepsy Monitoring Units. Experience with intracranial EEG monitoring is highly desirable.

About Our Comprehensive Epilepsy Center

Our center is recognized as a Level 4 institution by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC) and offers a variety of advanced treatments and services, including:

• Stereotactic placement of depth electrodes (stereo-EEG)
• Disconnective and resective epilepsy surgeries
• Responsive nerve stimulator (RNS) placement
• Vagus nerve stimulator placement
• A unique neuropsychiatry program
• Deep brain stimulator (DBS) placement
• In development: intraoperative monitoring program

Key Responsibilities

The primary clinical duties for this role include:

• Conducting inpatient video-EEG monitoring
• Providing care on the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit
• Performing outpatient routine and ambulatory EEGs
• Managing epilepsy patients in the clinic (note that clinic sessions may be canceled during inpatient service weeks, continuous EEG service, vacations, and academic conferences)

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary epilepsy team, including epileptologists, advanced practice providers, social workers, nurse navigators, functional neurosurgeons, neuropsychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and neuroradiologists
• Engage in the education of neurology residents and medical students at a highly ranked medical school (US News #10 in Primary Care), with a Neurology Residency program accepting 9 residents annually and approximately 200 medical students each year

• Customize your career focus on clinical epilepsy, education for residents and medical students, and/or research initiatives
