Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Engineer to support the inspection, verification, and quality assurance of advanced aerospace propulsion systems, precision hardware, and manufacturing processes across VALT’s hypersonic development programs. In this role, you will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and operations teams to ensure components and production activities meet engineering, performance, and configuration requirements in demanding aerospace environments. This role supports inspection planning, process verification, nonconformance resolution, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the development of aerospace hardware. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail‑oriented, and comfortable operating within a fast‑paced R&D environment. Key Responsibilities: Support inspection, verification, and quality assurance activities associated with hypersonic air‑breathing propulsion systems, lightweight aerospace structures, and precision engineered hardware Review engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T requirements, and manufacturing documentation to verify compliance with quality and configuration requirements Perform and support incoming, in‑process, and final inspection activities for machined components, lightweight aerospace structures, propulsion hardware, and integrated assemblies Utilize precision inspection and measurement equipment to verify dimensional compliance and manufacturing quality Support root cause investigations, nonconformance evaluations, and corrective action activities associated with manufacturing or hardware issues Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and assembly teams to improve manufacturing quality, process consistency, and hardware reliability Support first article inspections, material traceability activities, and configuration control processes throughout manufacturing and testing operations Develop and maintain inspection records, quality documentation, and related manufacturing quality procedures Analyze inspection data and manufacturing trends to identify process improvement opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives Support quality verification activities associated with externally sourced materials, components, coatings, and specialized hardware services Assist with calibration tracking and verification activities associated with inspection and measurement equipment Contribute to design reviews, manufacturing reviews, and technical investigations to proactively identify and mitigate quality risks Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, aerospace engineering, industrial engineering, or a related engineering field 5+ years of experience in quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality control, or precision aerospace/advanced manufacturing environments Experience supporting inspection, verification, and quality assurance activities associated with aerospace hardware, propulsion systems, or precision engineered components Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, technical specifications, and manufacturing documentation Experience utilizing precision measurement and inspection equipment to verify dimensional and manufacturing compliance Experience supporting root cause investigations, nonconformance evaluations, and corrective action implementation related to manufacturing or hardware issues Familiarity with manufacturing processes including CNC machining, fabrication, assembly, or prototype aerospace hardware production Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to evaluate technical issues and recommend practical solutions Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and operations teams in a fast‑paced R&D environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting aerospace, propulsion, defense, or flight hardware development programs Experience supporting prototype or low‑volume aerospace manufacturing environments Experience with first article inspections, nonconformance reporting, and corrective/preventive action processes Familiarity with coordinate measuring machines, advanced metrology equipment, or digital inspection systems Experience supporting lightweight aerospace structures, propulsion hardware, or high‑performance mechanical assemblies Experience working in R&D environments transitioning technologies from development into testing or production Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing standards, inspection methodologies, and configuration management processes Experience supporting manufacturing, assembly, or test operations within fast‑paced engineering environments 4% 401(k) match Employee stock option program Opportunities for professional development and advancement Exciting and challenging work environment Join us in shaping the future of hypersonic flight development and play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of next‑generation air‑breathing propulsion systems and aerospace hardware.
