Software Project Manager

You'll run planning, tracking, and delivery for several software projects at once and be the bridge between the engineering team and leadership. Engineers work in GitLab. Leadership works in JIRA and Smartsheet. Your job is to keep both sides current without slowing anyone down. This fits someone who started as an engineer, moved into project or program management, and can earn the trust of a technical team while keeping projects on schedule. The role is hybrid, about 80 percent on site in Bingen, WA, with roughly 5 percent travel that can come up on short notice.

What you'll do

• Own the plan, schedule, and status for every active software project
• Build and keep up project plans in Smartsheet so scope, timelines, and progress are visible to leadership
• Follow daily engineering work in GitLab and carry the right status into JIRA for company wide visibility
• Staff engineers across projects so no one is overcommitted or split across too many priorities
• Control the intake of new requests, limit context switching, and protect the team's focus
• Work with engineering leads to set and revisit priorities so the team stays on the highest value work
• Call out when a new request should wait instead of starting now, and explain the tradeoff to leadership
• Keep distributed teams across multiple continents and time zones aligned with little overlap in working hours
• Spot risks, blockers, and resourcing conflicts early and drive them to a fix before they hit the schedule
• Run standups, sprint planning, and retros in a way that fits the team's GitLab workflow
• Report status, risks, dependencies, and staffing decisions to engineering leadership and other stakeholders
• Turn stakeholder needs into concrete timelines, risk assessments, and status reports
• Forecast schedules and manage scope so projects stay tied to business goals
• Work with project controls to stay compliant with the standards and processes that apply
• Identify, track, and plan mitigation for risks across software projects

Skills & Experience

Required

• At least 5 years in project or program management, mostly on software projects
• Has managed several large projects at the same time
• Prior work as a software engineer or technical contributor before moving into project management
• Hands on with Smartsheet, JIRA, or similar tools for planning and tracking
• Daily use of GitLab for issues, boards, and milestones
• Able to connect team level tools like GitLab to company level tools like JIRA
• Strong in resource planning, allocation, forecasting, and prioritization
• Able to manage stakeholder expectations and turn them into clear timelines, risks, and status
• Has coordinated global teams across big time zone gaps
• Understands software engineering workflows and terms well enough to talk with engineers on their level
• Experienced in cross functional coordination in complex environments
• Skilled in risk management and risk assessment on software projects

Preferred

• Aerospace, defense, robotics, or other software work tied closely to hardware
• DO-178 or another regulated setting such as medical devices or transportation
• Familiarity with ITAR and project control practices
• Has worked where office and production floor sit side by side
• Comfortable when priorities shift and travel comes up fast
• Sprint planning and agile ceremonies built around Git based workflows
• Clear status reporting to a range of stakeholders and leadership

Physical requirements

Daily computer work, reading screens, documents, and engineering drawings. Walking through office and production areas that can have uneven surfaces. Occasionally carrying or lifting up to 30 pounds between office and production spaces.

This is a Permanent position based out of Bingen, WA.

The pay range for this position is $143000.00 - $229000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

Relocation assistance is provided for qualified positions, along with a compensation and benefits package.

This is a fully onsite position in Bingen,WA.

This position is anticipated to close on Sep 18, 2026.
