Senior Tax Accountant

$85,000–$120,000, depending on experience An established boutique CPA firm in Lake Success is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join its close-knit team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tax professional who enjoys being hands-on, working closely with senior leadership and supporting a diverse portfolio of business and individual clients. The Role You will work as a trusted right-hand person to one of the firm’s future Partners, taking responsibility for a varied workload that will primarily include tax preparation, year-end closings and client accounting work. Key responsibilities Preparing federal and state tax returns for individuals and businesses Completing year-end and period-end closings Supporting clients with ongoing accounting and tax matters Communicating directly with clients and responding to queries Handling correspondence and calls with the IRS where appropriately qualified Working closely with the firm’s Partners on client engagements Helping ensure work is completed accurately and within deadlines About You The firm is ideally looking for someone who: Has experience working within a CPA or public accounting firm Has strong tax preparation and general accounting experience Is a qualified CPA or Enrolled Agent Can confidently communicate with clients and government agencies Is organised, dependable and comfortable working within a smaller practice Enjoys a hands-on role rather than managing a large team Candidates who are currently working towards their CPA or Enrolled Agent qualification may also be considered. The firm is open to candidates at different stages of their careers. More experienced applicants could be considered up to approximately $120,000, while developing accountants with around 18 months or more of relevant experience may be considered from approximately $85,000.
