Summary About the Position: Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center. Employees work Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and childcare available. Learn more about this agency Duties Help Directs the work of police officers engaged in the enforcement of law and protection. Assigns work carried out by subordinates. Maintaining law and order where Government has jurisdiction. Purses or directs apprehension of persons fleeing crime scenes or resisting arrest. Establishing rules and regulations that abide by federal, state, and local laws. Requirements Help Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires the incumbent to pass a physical agility test (PAT) annually. You must undergo initial and periodic medical evaluations to assess your ability to take the PAT. This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident. This position has been designated Mission Essential . In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. This position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform and maintain a high standard of appearance and hygiene. This position requires the incumbent to wear the prescribed uniform and/or personal protective equipment while on duty. The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles. This position requires persons to carry a firearm, which requires initial and periodic qualification and meet the requirements under 18 USC 922(g)(9) of The Lautenberg Amendment. This position requires submission to a random urinalysis drug screening as well as pre-employment. This position requires that the incumbent has graduated from a U. S. Army USAMPS or receive an initial training waiver or be excepted per para 4-4 of the Army Regulation 190-56. NOTE: You must upload a copy of your Certification. This position is covered by the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) IAW AR 190-56 and has been designated by Department of Army as critical to the national or internal security. Personnel must meet the standards for the IRP. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis. Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime. This position has annual training and re-certification requirements. This position requires successful completion of a Weapons Qualification training prescribed by policy, regulations or statues. This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed. This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training. Qualifications Conditions of Employment Continued: This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. This position requires the completion of a pre-employment physical examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. This position requires the incumbent to be able to wear chemical-protection equipment. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in the Federal service which includes 1) Performing investigative research to resolve criminal activity; 2) Conducting law enforcement training on a regular and reoccurring basis; and 3) Providing first aid assistance in accident cases or other emergency situations. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest. Direct deposit of pay is required.
