Inventory Specialist

The Inventory Specialist supports field welding operations by ensuring work trailers are fully stocked, organized, and in proper working order before each project. This role focuses on anticipating needs, preventing delays for welders, and maintaining tools, equipment, and the shop environment. When trailer loading is complete, the Inventory Specialist assists with general maintenance and facility upkeep to keep operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and stock field welders' trailers with all required materials, tools, safety gear, and general supplies based on project pick lists provided on an iPad.
  • Review and work from digital pick lists to ensure each trailer contains everything needed for upcoming projects, including routine and project-specific items.
  • Inspect trailers, tools, and related equipment to confirm they are functioning properly, including checking taillights and other basic mechanical and safety components.
  • Proactively identify and address any potential issues that could slow down field welders, ensuring they have everything they need to work efficiently on-site.
  • Maintain accurate organization of tools, materials, and supplies to support quick and efficient trailer loading and restocking.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance on vehicles and trailers when there are no trailers to load.
  • Help organize and maintain the tool crib to ensure tools are stored properly and easy to locate.
  • Support general shop upkeep, including cleaning the shop area to maintain a safe and orderly workspace.
  • Perform basic facility and grounds tasks such as mowing grass, moving snow, and handling other general tasks around the building as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members to prioritize tasks and adjust to changing workload and project demands.
Essential Skills
  • Strong inventory management skills with the ability to track, organize, and restock tools, materials, and supplies accurately.
  • High attention to detail to ensure trailers are fully and correctly stocked and equipment is in proper working order.
  • Ability to stay organized in a busy shop environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Punctuality and reliability to support consistent project schedules and field operations.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new processes, tools, and equipment.
  • Basic tooling knowledge to identify, locate, and verify the correct tools and equipment for each job.
  • Flexibility to perform a variety of tasks, including trailer loading, preventative maintenance, shop organization, and facility upkeep.
  • Ability to work effectively with a small team and communicate clearly about needs, issues, and priorities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Comfort using an iPad or similar device to follow digital pick lists and work instructions.
  • General mechanical aptitude to check basic functionality of trailers, tools, and equipment.
  • Willingness to assist with outdoor tasks such as mowing grass and moving snow as needed.
  • Positive attitude and readiness to take on additional duties around the shop to support overall operations.

Work Environment

You will work primarily in a small shop environment that is transitioning to a much larger facility, approximately three times the current size, to support continued growth. The role involves hands-on work with tools, trailers, vehicles, and an organized tool crib, as well as using an iPad to manage pick lists and inventory tasks. The environment includes both indoor shop work and outdoor activities such as mowing grass and moving snow, so you should be comfortable working in varying conditions. The expanded shop will provide more space for equipment, inventory, and workflow, supporting an efficient and organized operation.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Saint Cloud, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40000.00 - $60000.00/yr. Decent benefits through the union in the field, but this shop role is not union.

Workplace Type

This is a fully onsite position in Saint Cloud, MN.
