Teacher (K-6) Multi-Age Teacher Qualifications: 1. State of New Hampshire Certification as appropriate Terms of Employment: 1. Maintain valid NH certification Reports To: Principal and/or other responsible administrator Job Goal: Responsible for the education of each pupil in his or her charge and for working with students, parents, other teachers and staff toward achieving the goals set forth in the district's Mission Statement. This includes facilitation of student success in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum and state curriculum standards; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of students; providing a safe and optimal learning environment and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc. Performance Responsibilities: Teaching: 1. The teacher must be aware of various instructional trends and participate in exploration of possible changes in method or content of instruction. 2. The teacher shall demonstrate an ability to control the situations encountered in the performance of duties while exhibiting the proper respect for the dignity and worth of each individual. 3. The teacher shall demonstrate the ability to define the objectives of instruction and the ability to assess the results of the efficiency and effectiveness of the instruction. 4. Assesses students for the purpose of instructional planning and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding individual progress, expectations, goals, etc. 5. Directs paraprofessionals, volunteers and/or student aides for the purpose of providing an effective school program and addressing the needs of individual students. 6. Implements district curriculum and instructional strategies consistent with student needs and administrative expectations. 7. Monitors and supervises student activities and use of equipment (e.g. computers, classroom, lunch, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment. 8. Prepares differentiated instructional materials for the purpose of implementing lesson plans; and prepares reports (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) in order to provide documentation of student progress. Collaboration: 1. Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of supporting the goals for each student, developing support strategies to be provided at home for improvement and/or reinforcing goals. 2. Teacher maintains professional collegial relationships that encourage sharing, planning, and working together toward improved instructional skills and student success. 3. Collaborates with school personnel, parents, and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student learning outcomes; implementing effective use of technology for enhancement of instruction and assessment; and supporting the vision, mission, and goals of the district. 4. Participates in various meetings (e.g. parent conferences, in-service trainings, IEP, 504, behavioral support teams, data teams, school committees, etc.) for the purposes of educational planning, supporting community priorities, and maintaining a positive school culture. Other Professional Responsibilities: 1. The teacher shall be academically qualified in the area he/she is to instruct and should demonstrate a competence at transmitting learning to the student and the manner and means of accumulating, assimilating, and evaluating the knowledge associated with his/her academic field. 2. The teacher should demonstrate an awareness of other academic fields and should possess a reasonable and responsible attitude toward the education of the whole child. 3. The teacher shall constantly be alert to the example presented to students, parents, community and fellow workers striving to consistently exemplify the good. Relationships shall avoid personal attachments which detract from the obligation to constantly lead and critically evaluate the individual and the situation. 4. Each teacher is required to carry out assignments from the building Principal or other responsible Administrator in conformance with school board policies and regulations of the Board and the Superintendent. 5. Maintains regular and appropriate attendance and is on the time for assignment(s) for the purpose of meeting the need of the students and the district. 6. Reports incidents (e.g. bullying, fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, inappropriate digital citizenship, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to laws and regulations as well as district policies. 7. Other duties as assigned by the building Principal and/or other responsible administrator. Working Environment: Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move within the classroom and building. The employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands to manipulate, handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, and work at a student level, at tables that may be lower than the standard. The employee is frequently required to supervise students, requiring the employee to match the walking speed of the student. The employee may at times require the ability to move rapidly to safeguard students. Employee must occasionally move equipment and/or supplies. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move school-age students. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The job is performed for the most part in a school setting with occasional outside weather conditions. The noise level is that of a typical school setting. The employee may be required to drive in order to service students at different sites. Employee is regularly required to handle stressful situations and resolve conflicts.
