Lab Assistant - Blood Bank

Labcorp seeks a full-time Lab Assistant for the blood bank at Ascension St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. The role involves receiving, sorting, and preparing clinical specimens, performing equipment maintenance, and maintaining laboratory standards in a high-volume production environment.

Responsibilities

• Receive, sort, and prepare clinical lab specimens for testing
• Perform data entry and scanning of specimen and patient information
• Verify lab equipment functionality and perform minor maintenance
• Troubleshoot specimen-related issues and replenish test bench supplies
• Maintain clean and safe work environment; complete administrative records

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 6 months or more medical, clinical, or lab work experience
• Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
• Ability to handle biological specimens and identify them accurately
• Pass a standardized color blindness test
• High attention to detail with prioritization and multitasking ability
