Job Summary

This position is responsible for piping materials, including accurately receiving incoming shipments, preparing outgoing orders, maintaining shipping and receiving records, and ensuring materials are handled safely and efficiently. Working hours are Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming piping shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and delivery documents.
• Prepare, pack, label, and stage outgoing piping shipments for delivery or carrier pickup.
• Load and unload piping using proper safety procedures and equipment.
• Check piping shipments for accuracy, damage, shortages, or discrepancies and report issues to supervisors.
• Process piping shipping and receiving paperwork, including bills of lading, packing slips, shipping labels, and inventory records.

Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, logistics, or inventory control preferred.
• This position is represented by Local Union 441 Metal Trades.
• Ability to read and understand purchase orders, packing slips, shipping documents, and product labels.
• Basic computer skills and experience using scanners, inventory systems, or shipping software preferred.
• Basic math and reading skills.
• Forklift or pallet jack experience preferred; certification is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

Benefits

• Insurance Benefits are through Local Union 441.
• Per Local Union 441 agreement, Metal Trades positions will accrue 5.33 hours/month after 6 months of employment. A maximum of 16 hours of unused PTO may be rolled over to the following calendar year. Any remaining balance greater than this on 12/31 is forfeited.

Physical Requirements:

• Good hand-eye coordination.
• Good sense of balance, maintain equilibrium on uneven surfaces.
• Good physical fitness and agility.
• Lifting and carrying at least 40 pounds: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
• Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion.
• Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
• Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
• Crawling: Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
• Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
• Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.
• Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
• Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
• Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
• Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
• Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
• Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
• Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine discriminations in sound.
• Smelling: Perceiving or detecting the odor or scent of something. Ability to detect the odor or scent of something and make fine distinctions in smell.
• Extent Flexibility: Bending, stretching, twisting, or reaching with your body, arms, and/or legs.
• Finger Dexterity: Making precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
• Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
• Visual Acuity: Good visual acuity is required including but not limited to various distances: near detail work and far; various light conditions: night or in dim light, in daylight or bright light, under glare or poor contrast; to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment, distinguishing colors, shapes, patterns depth perception and peripheral vision.
• WORKING CONDITIONS: Workers are required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment such as steel toed work boots, hardhats, safety glasses, work gloves, safety vests, protective suits, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, fall protection and other devices to protect their eyes, respiratory system, hearing or physical safety. Workers must be especially alert to safely follow procedures and must deal with a variety of hazards. Workers are subject to the following environments: inside areas with uncontrolled temperatures; outside areas with extreme heat, cold and weather conditions; loud noise; various physical hazards; exposure to various harmful materials/chemicals/dusts/poor ventilation; small/narrow workspaces which could cause claustrophobia; exposure to potential infectious diseases/materials.
