Job Description

This role focuses on designing, developing, and supporting electrical control systems for custom conveyor and automation solutions. The Electrical Engineer plans, designs, and coordinates the application of products and control systems to meet customer requirements, while providing technical expertise throughout the full project lifecycle from concept and proposal through manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and ongoing support. The position combines hands-on engineering, PLC/HMI programming, customer-facing technical support, and collaboration with cross-functional teams in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and coordinate the application of electrical products and control systems to meet specific customer requirements.
• Develop and maintain detailed electrical drawings, including schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of materials to support design, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of custom conveyor and automation systems.
• Prepare detailed technical quotations, proposals, cost analyses, and equipment specifications to support customer requirements and sales initiatives.
• Design and develop electrical control systems for industrial machinery, including selection and application of motor starters, relays, limit switches, push buttons, and related control components.
• Create, modify, and maintain PLC and HMI programs to ensure reliable and efficient operation of custom conveyor and material handling systems.
• Test, troubleshoot, and validate control systems to confirm proper operation and compliance with project specifications.
• Collaborate closely with customers, sales, manufacturing, engineering, and vendors to define project requirements and ensure alignment throughout project execution.
• Provide technical support for application engineering efforts, including proposal drawings, concept development, and feasibility assessments.
• Support sales efforts by participating in product demonstrations, customer presentations, technical consultations, trade shows, and pre-sale evaluations.
• Investigate warranty claims and technical issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Assist customers and internal personnel with troubleshooting, commissioning, and operational support for electrical control systems and equipment.
• Monitor project schedules, identify potential delays or performance concerns, and communicate risks and mitigation strategies to stakeholders.
• Recommend design improvements, process enhancements, and cost-reduction opportunities to improve system performance and project profitability.
• Travel approximately 10% of the time to customer facilities to perform system startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, programming modifications, and on-site technical support.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology.
• 8+ years of experience designing electrical controls for industrial machinery using components such as motor starters, relays, limit switches, and push buttons.
• Proven experience creating and editing electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, preferably using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Strong experience designing and developing electrical control systems, including wiring diagrams, panel layouts, schematics, and bills of materials.
• Hands-on experience programming common commercial PLC and HMI products using more than one software package, including Siemens STEP7 and Rockwell / Allen-Bradley platforms such as RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, or Studio 5000, and PanelView Plus.
• Demonstrated ability to test, troubleshoot, and validate electrical control systems in an industrial environment.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including customers, sales, manufacturing, engineering, and vendors.
• Strong technical communication skills for preparing detailed technical quotations, proposals, and equipment specifications.
• Ability to support commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational support both remotely and on-site.
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 10% of the time to customer facilities for startup, commissioning, and technical support.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Mitsubishi GX Works and GT Designer for PLC and HMI programming.
• Familiarity with Eaton easySoft software.
• Experience with Toyopuc PCwin and related application engineering tools.
• Experience in application engineering, including concept development, proposal drawings, and pre-sale technical support.
• Experience supporting sales activities through technical presentations, product demonstrations, and trade show participation

The role is based in a very large, clean manufacturing facility that is attached to a multi-story office building, providing both hands-on and office-based work settings. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.

The pay range for this position is $53.00 - $55.00/hr.
