Med Surg/Tele RN

Unit has 24 beds with Med Surg and Tele capability on all beds. The unit is heavy on telemetry. The patient population includes adults and pediatrics, but travelers will not take pediatric patients; these are assigned to permanent staff. Candidates must possess strong neuro and cardiac skills. A minimum of 2 years of experience is required. ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications are mandatory. PALS certification is preferred. Shifts are 12 hours with a guaranteed 36 hours per week. The unit uses the Allscripts EMR system. Support staff includes telemetry technicians, a charge nurse, health unit coordinators, and patient care technicians. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5 during days, 1:6 during nights, and 1:4 for pediatrics, based on the level of acuity. Nurse managers do not provide patient care but conduct rounds. Nurses may need to float to all medical-surgical units and take on medical-surgical overflow patients in the ICU. Hospitalist services are available 24/7. Respiratory therapists and pharmacy services are also available 24/7. Scrub colors can be any, except all black. Scrubs are not provided. Cancellation policy allows for 3 cancellations per 13 weeks.
