Under the general direction of the Director of Plant Operations, the Chief Engineer and the Plant Operations Supervisor, the Mechanic III is responsible for a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, and heating/air conditioning tasks to include installing and repairing equipment, and maintaining buildings and grounds as assigned. The Mechanic III is expected to be self-motivated with a high attention to detail and task ownership, ensuring that assigned projects/tasks are completed correctly and in a timely manner with minimal guidance. What you will do in this role: Installs and repairs various equipment types in accordance with diagrams, operating manuals, maintenance schedules, and manufacturer specifications with minimal supervision, to include but not limited to: Performs assigned preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with maintenance schedules and manufacturer specifications in a timely manner. Assists with the inspection, installation, repair, and replacement of pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures to maintain the water, gas, and draining system. Constructs, repairs, and maintains furniture, wall partitions, cabinets, doors, windows, building framework, and related carpentry duties with minimal supervision. Troubleshoots, maintains and repairs heating and cooling plant equipment to include but not limited to: Calculates quantity of materials and supplies needed to complete assigned projects Utilizes appropriate principles related to safety and infection control in the provision of services Utilizes appropriate body mechanics in the moving and lifting of supplies and equipment Utilizes appropriate precautions and related to infection control in relation to maintenance of equipment, supplies, the environment, and personal hygiene activities. Communicates effectively verbally and in writing to fulfill position responsibilities.
