Senior Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis

General Purpose The Company seeks an intellectually curious and self‑motivated Senior Financial Analyst to join the high-performing Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team, responsible for driving long‑term growth and financial results through forecasting, long‑term planning, reporting, and strategic analysis to drive insights for the Finance department and Senior Leadership at Ross Stores. The ideal candidate must have strong financial modeling experience, be highly motivated, demonstrate comfort with ambiguity, be capable of taking initiative and driving for results, and have the ability to partner effectively with stakeholders across the organization. The Senior Analyst will report to the Sr. Manager, FP&A and interact frequently with other executives within Finance. Salary: $96,700 – $146,050 (base). Compensation includes additional rewards varying by position and location. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assist with the company's weekly forecasting process. Understand the details and drivers behind key P&L lines (sales, gross margin, inventory, etc.) and make adjustments to reflect updated information. Work closely with business partners to solicit inputs and analyze results, identifying business drivers for variances including changes in trends and/or company plans. Assist with the company's budgeting and long‑term planning processes, including creating budget financial targets, communicating major updates, generating high‑level summaries and explaining key variances. Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports, including analysis of business performance, inventory trends, and balance‑sheet data. Provide ongoing analytical support to influence strategic direction, guide investor relations activities, and inform senior management and board‑level discussion. CFA or MBA is a plus. Prefer 3‑5 years post‑college experience within a retail company or a financial analysis and planning group. Strong analytical ability – must be able to synthesize data, error‑check and reconcile own work, and design analysis to answer specific questions. Detail‑oriented approach – must pay close attention to details and have the drive to get things right. Strong technical skills including advanced Excel and modeling, proven ability to learn financial systems/applications (e.g., Power BI, MicroStrategy, Hyperion, Peoplesoft Financial Systems, Flash Sales), and proficiency in PowerPoint. Forward‑thinking, resourceful and problem‑solving mindset, drawn to building off ambiguity with a willingness to take on challenges in an environment with consistently changing priorities. Unquestionable personal and professional character and integrity – must be trustworthy with confidential information. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA Job requires the ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer. Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in‑person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files. Consistent timeliness and regular attendance. Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically. This role requires regular in‑office presence, including to engage in in‑person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in‑office and remote work.
