Operations & Maintenance Technician IV - Electrical - 3403

What You’ll Do Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve electrical systems associated with pumps, turbines, generators, transformers, motors, and related treatment and distribution facilities. Maintain and improve electrical components and infrastructure within treatment plants, pump plants, reservoirs, hydroelectric facilities, right‑of‑ways, and supporting operational sites. Perform preventive and corrective electrical maintenance to ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted system operations. Monitor electrical equipment performance using advanced diagnostic and predictive testing methods to identify and resolve potential issues proactively. Support the operation and maintenance of high‑voltage overhead and underground electrical distribution systems across treatment, conveyance, and distribution infrastructure. Upgrade and expand electrical capacity and systems to meet evolving operational demands for water treatment, conveyance, distribution, and hydroelectric generation. Ensure the ongoing reliability of critical revenue‑generating assets and electrical systems.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or a certificate of high school equivalency plus a minimum of 6 years in an electrical maintenance position in a pump plant, treatment plant, hydroelectric, conveyance, or distribution facility. OR high school diploma or a certificate of high school equivalency plus the attainment of journey level skills through a recognized electrical trade training program. Relevant journey level experience demonstrated by practical application of general and advanced techniques specific to the operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in treatment or pump plants, conveyance and distribution, power generation systems, and related apparatus. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application). Valid driver’s license from state of residency equivalent to a California Class A and/or B with appropriate commercial license endorsements. Crane certifications. Forklift certification. Manlift certification. Chemical responder certification. MWD High Voltage Switching Certificate.
