Job Title: Quality Inspection Lead

Job Description

The Quality Lead oversees inspection, measurement, and compliance activities across all stages of production to ensure products meet customer and regulatory requirements. This role manages quality control processes, leads problem-solving initiatives, and supports continuous improvement through robust auditing and supplier quality coordination.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections at incoming, in-process, final, and safe launch stages to verify that products meet defined quality standards.

• Ensure all inspection activities comply with APQP and PPAP requirements and are properly documented.

• Conduct detailed dimensional measurements and analysis to support ISIRs and PPAP submissions.

• Manage nonconforming materials through containment activities, ensuring timely identification, segregation, and disposition.

• Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for quality issues, validating the effectiveness of solutions over time.

• Perform internal ISO and process audits to verify adherence to established procedures and standards.

• Maintain, update, and control ISO documentation to ensure alignment with current practices and compliance requirements.

• Review and support supplier submissions, including PPAPs, ISIRs, deviations, and SCARs, to confirm conformance with specifications.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve supplier-related quality issues and drive continuous improvement.

• Identify, specify, and acquire necessary inspection tools and gauges during PPAP and new product introduction activities.

• Use measurement tools such as gauges, micrometers, calipers, and microscopes to perform accurate inspections and calibrations.

• Support quality assurance activities by monitoring inspection results, reporting trends, and recommending process improvements.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Hands-on experience with gauges, micrometers, and calipers for dimensional inspection.

• Knowledge of CMM operation and CMM inspection techniques.

• Experience with FAI and PPAP processes, including documentation and submissions.

• Understanding of APQP requirements and related quality planning activities.

• Knowledge of ISO standards and experience supporting ISO compliance.

• Experience with calibration of measurement tools and gauges.

• Strong experience in quality assurance and quality control practices.

• Ability to perform detailed dimensional analysis and interpret measurement results.

• Proven ability to lead root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.

• Manufacturing quality experience with a focus on inspection and compliance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience using microscopes for detailed inspection and verification.

• Familiarity with ISIRs, deviations, and SCAR processes.

• Ability to maintain and update ISO documentation and process records.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inspection and documentation.

• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams and suppliers.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing environment with a primary focus on quality inspection and measurement activities. You will work with a variety of inspection tools and equipment, including CMMs, gauges, micrometers, calipers, microscopes, and calibrated measurement devices. The position follows a first-shift schedule: currently 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, transitioning to 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, effective 6/1. The environment emphasizes adherence to ISO standards, structured processes, and accurate documentation, with an expectation of professional, safety-conscious attire appropriate for a manufacturing and inspection setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Machesney Park, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
