Position Controls Engineer – McKenzie, TN Responsibilities Design, configure, integrate, test, and implement process control solutions for machinery and conveying. Manage automation projects from concept to completion, defining scopes, budgets, and timelines. Program, troubleshoot, and optimize multi-axis Fanuc industrial robots and robotic end-of-arm tooling. Specify, propose, budget, and source process instrumentation, PLCs, drives, and components for new equipment. Supervise installation, test, and start-up phases of new control systems. Troubleshoot hardware, calibrate field devices, and correct software errors to minimize production downtime. Review, repair, optimize, and redesign legacy automation code to modern standard architectures. Guide maintenance technicians through fabrication and panel building, and train staff during new project startup and deployment. Qualifications Education : 4-year Engineering degree in Electrical, Software, or Computer Engineering (preferred). 4-year EET, MET, or similar Engineering Technology degree accepted. Experience : 3–5 years industrial automation experience; metal fabrication or heavy industrial environments preferred. Core Hardware : Proficient with Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Red Lion controllers. Robotics & Advanced Machinery : Hands-on experience with Fanuc robotic systems and Salvagnini sheet metal automation. Legacy Systems : Knowledge of troubleshooting and migrating older relay logic. HMI & Motion Control : Ability to design HMI/OIT interfaces and tune Servo motors, VFDs, and actuators. Safety Systems : Deep knowledge of controls-based safety system implementation (e.g., light curtains, scanners, interlocks, E-stops). Mechanical Skills : Able to use hand and power tools safely; interface with robotics technology; operate electrical test equipment. Problem Solving & Autonomy : Independent critical thinker capable of taking concepts to reality with minimal intervention.
