Position Information Licensed Elementary Teacher – School Year 26/27 (2026–2027) Employment Period: 10 months. Employment Status: Full time. Start Date: August 3, 2026. Locations Andrews: K, 1st, 3rd Bassette: 2nd Machen: K, 3rd Salary and Benefits The annual salary ranges from $58,500 (Step 0, Bachelor's) to $101,105 (Step 30+, Doctorate) based on the 2026‑2027 school year salary scale. $5,000 sign‑on bonus for licensed/eligible teachers at Tittle I schools. Associate (unlicensed) teachers considered based on division needs. For associate teachers with a bachelor’s degree: $45,000. Responsibilities Plan and implement an instructional program that provides appropriate learning experiences for each student. Collaborate within a professional learning community to nurture and sustain a culture conducive to accelerated student achievement. Assess student achievement and maintain documentation for reporting. Manage behavior of learners in the instructional setting and assist in behavior management across the school. Coordinate instructional activities and collaborate with other professionals to maximize learning opportunities. Participate in professional development activities and staff meetings as required. Provide continuous communication with parents, students, professionals, and support personnel. Perform related duties as required or assigned. Qualifications Completion of a bachelor’s degree and additional coursework, including Praxis, necessary to obtain a teaching license. Preference to teachers who completed an approved teacher preparatory program and hold or are eligible for a license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Experience working with students in a classroom setting preferred. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Excellent organizational, planning, and human relations skills. Good knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of elementary level instruction. Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of children. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, and parents. Associate (unlicensed) teachers considered based on division needs.
