Supported Community Lifestyles, Inc. (SCL) is looking for a dependable and motivated Recycling Route Driver / Job Coach to join our team in Ponca City.

 

This is a unique, hands-on position that combines recycling route services with the rewarding opportunity to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities build valuable job skills, confidence, and independence.

What You'll Do

As a Recycling Route Driver / Job Coach, you will:

 

• Safely operate a truck and trailer along assigned recycling routes in the Ponca City area.
• Collect, load, transport, and unload recyclable materials.
• Empty designated trash and recycling receptacles and transport materials to appropriate disposal or recycling locations.
• Follow established safety procedures and maintain accurate daily records.
• Work with team members to provide reliable and efficient recycling services.
• Coach and support individuals with disabilities as they participate in job-related activities.
• Teach essential workplace skills, positive work habits, and the proper use of equipment.
• Encourage individuals to develop greater independence and achieve their personal and employment goals.
• Provide respectful, patient, and person-centered support.
• Follow individualized service plans and behavior support plans.
• Use approved de-escalation, crisis intervention, and behavior-support techniques when needed.
• Remain calm and professional when responding to challenging behaviors or emergency situations.

 

What We're Looking For

 

The ideal candidate is dependable, patient, safety-conscious, and comfortable performing physical work. Candidates must be able to work independently while also providing positive guidance and support to others.

 

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Experience driving a truck and pulling a trailer.
• Ability to safely perform physically demanding work.
• Ability to work outdoors in hot and cold temperatures.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, lift, and perform other physical tasks required for the position.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Ability to complete assigned tasks accurately and on time.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

Prior experience in general maintenance or a related hands-on position is preferred.

 

Working With the Individuals We Support

This position provides direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Some individuals may experience behavioral or emotional challenges. Employees in this role must be comfortable working in an environment where challenging behaviors may occur and must successfully complete required training in areas such as behavior support, abuse prevention, crisis intervention, and de-escalation.

 

We are looking for someone who can remain calm, use sound judgment, follow established support plans, and consistently treat every individual with dignity and respect.
