Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year required License: Must hold a valid compact nursing license Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: - Previous charge experience - Experience with patient ratios of 6:1 Description: Position involves providing care for adult and geriatric patients in a medical surgical unit. The role requires floating between units as needed. Weekend work is required, specifically one weekend every two weeks. Block scheduling is utilized for staffing. Blood product administration and central line blood draw are key skills necessary for this position. Nurses will manage surgical drains and care for patients with total joint replacements. Involvement in managing high flow nasal cannula patients and IV insulin protocols will also be expected. The unit employs a team-based model with additional support from interdisciplinary teams, including IV teams and respiratory services. Virtual nursing support is integrated to assist with admissions and discharge processes. Caring for a range of postoperative patients, including those recovering from appendectomies and knee replacements, is part of the daily responsibilities. Participation in rounding and pain reassessment is also a component of this role.
