Description

American Traveler is hiring a Vascular Sonographer for a 13-week travel assignment in a vascular ultrasound lab, with a unique 7/70 alternating schedule and first-time travelers welcome.

Details

• Work in a single-room vascular ultrasound department within an acute care hospital setting
• Patient population includes outpatient, ED, and inpatient cases with common diagnoses including DVT, carotid, and brachial studies
• Average census of 6–10 patients per day, with approximately 3 scheduled outpatients plus ED and inpatient volume
• 10-hour day shifts from 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM on a 7/70 schedule: work Wednesday through Tuesday, then take the following week off, then repeat
• No on-call requirements beyond the scheduled shift
• Holiday coverage is expected
• May float within the same hospital campus to ED, inpatient, and outpatient areas
• Uses Philips iU22 ultrasound equipment
• Epic and AS Software EMR — experience preferred but not required

Requirements

• RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist) certification required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum of 1 year of vascular sonography experience required
• Proficiency in DVT, carotid, and brachial ultrasound studies
• Strong time management skills with ability to manage daily workflow across scheduled outpatients, ED, and inpatient referrals
• Comfortable transporting patients as needed
• License required if applicable
• Two professional references required prior to start (supervisor level or above); one reference accepted at time of consideration

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Orientation consists of 1–2 days of unit-specific onboarding, coordinated with another vascular technologist on staff
• Department support includes key leads across modalities, a manager who is frequently on-site and available by phone, a house supervisor available on weekends, and RT and hospitalist coverage available 24/7
• Small, collaborative unit with a positive culture across all modalities
• Occasional patient coordination may be required, such as calling ED patients to schedule a follow-up visit — this is minimal
• Free parking is available on-site
• RTO requests are subject to manager approval
