Job Description Position Overview Embrace Life Behavioral Health Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Therapist, specializing in trauma-informed care, to join our remote, full-time team in New York, New York. In this vital role, you will provide high-quality mental health support for individuals grappling with the effects of trauma, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex trauma. Your clinical expertise will play an essential part in fostering healing and resilience in our clients. Our team of professionals is committed to integrating best practices in trauma-informed care, ensuring that each patient receives comprehensive and compassionate treatment tailored to their unique needs. Work Environment This position offers a remote work setting, allowing flexibility while maintaining a strong connection with our supportive team. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility required depending on patient needs. You will engage in virtual therapy sessions, case discussions, and collaborative meetings with colleagues, ensuring a seamless integration of care. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough, trauma-informed mental health assessments to evaluate each patient’s trauma history and develop tailored treatment approaches. Design and implement evidence-based individualized treatment plans that prioritize trauma recovery and resilience building. Utilize therapeutic interventions such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to help patients process their experiences. Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, offering a supportive environment for patients to explore their trauma and develop effective coping strategies. Coordinate closely with psychiatrists and interdisciplinary professionals to ensure an integrated and holistic approach to patient care. Provide crisis intervention support for patients in trauma-related emergencies, demonstrating quick and compassionate responses. Educate patients and their families about trauma responses and coping mechanisms, empowering them with resources for recovery. Maintain accurate and confidential documentation aligned with legal and ethical standards, utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems as needed. Participate in case consultations, team meetings, and ongoing professional development opportunities focused on trauma-informed care. Continuously update knowledge of the latest research and methodologies in trauma therapy to enhance clinical practice and patient outcomes. Patient Population / Client Focus Your primary focus will be on individuals who have experienced various forms of trauma, including those with PTSD, complex trauma, dissociative disorders, and other trauma-related challenges. By employing a trauma-informed approach, you will guide patients through their healing journeys, supporting them in reclaiming their lives and fostering resilience. Qualifications A Master’s or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required. Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, or LCSW-R in the state of New York is essential. A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience in a clinical setting is preferred. Proficiency in trauma-related disorders and trauma-informed treatment modalities, with a strong foundation in resilience-building approaches. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, reflecting a compassionate and non-judgmental demeanor. A capacity to remain calm and effective during high-stress situations. Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and familiar with various computer applications. Strong ability to collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Preferred Experience Experience delivering trauma-focused therapies and interventions, along with a deep understanding of trauma’s impact on mental health, is highly valued. Familiarity with evidence-based practices tailored toward trauma recovery will significantly enhance your effectiveness in this role. Compensation and Benefits The salary for this position ranges from $90,000 to $110,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
