HR Manager

A growing food manufacturing operation is seeking an onsite HR Manager to lead day-to-day human resources support for its Cumberland, Wisconsin facility. This position owns the practical employee lifecycle work that keeps a plant staffed, compliant, safe, and well supported.

The best fit is a hands-on HR professional who is comfortable partnering with plant leadership and employees across the organization. Manufacturing or food-processing experience is strongly preferred, along with sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage competing priorities without losing follow-through.

Schedule: Full-time, first shift; flexibility as plant needs require

Compensation: $80,000-$100,000 base salary plus a 7.5% bonus opportunity

Responsibilities

• Lead the facility's day-to-day HR administration and serve as a trusted resource for employees and plant leadership.
• Manage staffing and hiring activities, including recruiting, interviews, selection support, offers, onboarding, orientation, transfers, promotions, and separations.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, EEO documentation, applications, performance documentation, and other required employment records.
• Interpret and communicate company policies, procedures, and benefit programs so employees and supervisors understand expectations and available resources.
• Support employee relations, performance management, investigations, coaching, corrective action, and consistent policy administration.
• Provide leadership for safety and workers' compensation administration in partnership with plant leaders and outside providers.
• Plan and deliver required employee and supervisor training.
• Coordinate exit interviews and employee separation documentation.
• Support compensation reviews, wage surveys, affirmative action requirements, and other HR compliance activities.
• Recommend practical process improvements that strengthen efficiency, employee experience, confidentiality, and compliance.

Qualifications

• Two to five years of broad human resources experience and/or relevant college education or training.
• Hands-on experience supporting recruiting, onboarding, employee records, policy administration, employee relations, and separations.
• Working knowledge of core employment requirements and the judgment to identify when an issue needs escalation.
• Strong written, verbal, listening, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.
• Demonstrated ability to protect confidential information, make sound decisions, and meet deadlines.
• Willingness and ability to work onsite and periodically enter production areas while following required safety and personal protective equipment practices.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, including occasional standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Progressive HR experience in manufacturing, food processing, agriculture, consumer packaged goods, or another high-volume operational environment.
• Experience with workers' compensation, safety programs, EEO or affirmative action reporting, wage surveys, and employee training.
• Experience supporting hourly, seasonal, or variable-workforce populations.
• HRIS, applicant tracking, payroll interface, and Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Bachelor's or associate degree in human resources, business, organizational development, or a related field; PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP is a plus.
