Production Supervisor
This position will oversee the production lines to ensure the production of a high-quality product in a safe and cost-effective way to achieve performance targets. The role involves directing day-to-day production flow, including sequencing products and allocating labor resources. The position requires effective communication of job expectations to production employees, implementing, monitoring, and appraising job performance. The supervisor will provide coaching and guidance and implement corrective performance measures while initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. A good working knowledge of all operational processes from consumption to production output in software systems is essential.
Responsibilities
- Lead the overall shift by directing operations, managing labor, driving KPI performance, resolving employee issues, and making day-to-day operational decisions.
- Oversee shift operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production while meeting quality and performance targets.
- Direct production activities, labor utilization, material consumption, and finished goods accuracy.
- Monitor operational performance and implement corrective actions to address variances.
- Troubleshoot production and equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain product quality.
- Facilitate effective shift handoffs and communication across departments and leadership.
- Maintain accurate production, inventory, quality, safety, and performance records using company systems.
Essential Skills
- Technical knowledge of production and supervision in a food manufacturing environment.
- Three years of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of SQF, FSMA, HACCP is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn and apply new concepts quickly.
- Problem-solving skills and time management.
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One to three years of related experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work weekends and overtime as needed.
Job Type & Location
This is a permanent position based out of Reading, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $37.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
