FIREFIGHTER

Firefighter The City of Americus is seeking three (3) qualified candidates to fill the position of Firefighter. The beginning salary is $34,308.00 annually ($12.45/ hour). Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to responding to fire and or medical emergency calls for protection of life and property and to control/extinguish fires, perform search and rescue operations, and provide basic trauma and life support to sick or injured persons. Requirements include completion of High School diploma or GED; supplemented by vocational/technical training in fire fighting and First Responder emergency medical treatment programs; previous experience is preferred but not required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for the job. Must possess and maintain valid Georgia Fire Fighter 1 certification within six months of employment. Must possess Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate Certification or above, within three years of employment. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license. City of Americus Fire Department employees are required to live within a reasonable response time to the Public Safety Building not to exceed 60 minutes.
