Associate Director of Development

The client is seeking an Associate Director of Development to advance fundraising efforts with a primary focus on cultivating and stewarding relationships within the Pittsburgh community. This frontline role manages a portfolio of individual donors and prospects in the $1,000–$25,000 giving range and supports the growth of a local donor pipeline. The position reports directly to the Chief Advancement Officer and works closely with leadership to help achieve annual fundraising goals through donor engagement, special events, and stewardship initiatives. Key responsibilities include managing and growing an individual donor portfolio through regular cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship meetings centered on long-term relationship building. The Associate Director will develop personalized strategies to deepen donor involvement, partner on donor strategy and prospect pipeline development, and help identify and cultivate new donors within the Pittsburgh community and broader regional networks. The role also involves serving as a visible representative in the community by building relationships with community leaders, civic organizations, corporate partners, volunteers, and other stakeholders, and attending relevant events and organization-sponsored programs. The Associate Director will support donor cultivation and stewardship event planning and execution, assist with event follow-up and donor communications, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure donor-facing experiences align with the organization’s mission and values. Development operations include maintaining accurate donor records and tracking engagement activity in the organization’s CRM system, providing updates to the Chief Advancement Officer, and assisting with proposal development, stewardship reporting, and donor correspondence. The role requires a bachelor’s degree and 7–9 years of professional fundraising experience with direct frontline donor responsibility, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively; access to reliable transportation and willingness to attend occasional evening and weekend events are also expected.
