The person in this position will work with the Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners and physicians in the HIV/AIDS Polk clinics as well as assist with all other clinical parts of the Ryan White program. This position will serve as a clinic Licensed Practical Nurse. Work will be performed under the general supervision of the Specialty Care Nursing Supervisor. Clinical duties include but are not limited to:Manages daily clinic flow of provider scheduled appointments as well as walk-ins with clerical staff and Nursing SupervisorAssist and serves as a clinical resource and preceptor for other clinic Licensed Practical Nurses, students, and clinic support staff.Orders and administers medications and vaccines daily/as neededDaily use of Florida Shots and Pharmaceutical Forms Systems (PFS).Interviews patients to obtain pertinent health information.Prepares patient for examination. Assists ARNP and/or physicians with examinations and/or procedures.Administers minor treatments and vaccinations as prescribed.Enters immunization history and immunizations given in Florida Shots and all other documentation required per Health Department policy and procedures for vaccine administration.Takes blood pressure readings. Obtains temperatures, pulse, & respiration.Performs screening exams: height & weight, BMI and vision/hearing.Maintain proper storage and handling of vaccines and medications per Health Department policy and procedures.Maintain accurate and complete electronic health records.Phlebotomy and all other duties related to collecting and transferring medical specimens.Supportive duties to include: Assists in keeping medical records and maintaining inventory of medical supplies. Keeps the clinic and all equipment in operating order. Prepares and transports specimens to the laboratory. Collects and completes medical information for reporting statistics. Assists with accurate completion and review of health records. Assists the medical providers with care coordination activities. Coordinates prescription refills with pharmacies. Assist with Clinic Quality Management process, data entry, and referral process. Assist with obtaining prior authorizations for medical care.Additional duties:Works cooperatively with case management to ensure eligibility is completed and maintained.Applies nursing principles and techniques in the treatment of patients. Makes assessment of patient's condition in relationship to medication administration. Educates patient in medication administration, adherence, side effects and contraindications. Ensures laboratory testing has been completed to ensure appropriate medication is being administrated in consultation with medical providers Conducts health history in relationship to medication administration and adherence. Attends conferences and workshops as related to HIV/AIDS. Will participate in cross training learning other clinical duties in the Specialty Care Clinic As a state employee, in a County Health Department, incumbent will participate in disaster preparedness and/or recovery activities.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of nursing principles and techniques Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology Skill in the use of medical equipment and instruments used in providing nursing care Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity Ability to administer medications Ability to work with patients Ability to interpret and follow medical instructions Ability to observe patients' symptoms and reactions to treatment Ability to communicate effectively Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.Qualifications:Minimum - Current Florida Driver's License This occupation requires licensure as a practical nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.22 or 8.27.Where You Will Work: Bartow, FL
