Project Manager-CCS

Job Overview Provide engineering technical development, oversight, project execution, and project management for Carbon Capture and Sequestration projects. Coordinate and communicate with Tallgrass commercial and operational groups to support business development. Take a defined business commitment, apply basic engineering analytical concepts, and develop a project and engineering/execution plan for successful completion of the project to meet business objectives. Work with Tallgrass customers, the public, government agencies, and stakeholders to communicate goals and advance the project through concept to design, engineering, construction, and operations. Responsibilities Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of post-combustion carbon capture projects across power generation and process facilities. Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation. Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations. Manage relationships with clients, technology providers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders. Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues to ensure successful project outcomes. Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle. Oversee contract management, change control, and procurement activities related to carbon capture projects. Provide regular project status updates and reports to senior leadership and stakeholders. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and capture lessons learned to optimize future project delivery. Mentor and develop project team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred. 15-20 years progressive project management experience in post-combustion carbon capture projects within power generation and/or industrial process sectors. Deep technical knowledge of post-combustion carbon capture technologies, including solvent-based systems, process integration, and emissions control. Proven track record managing large-scale, complex projects with multiple stakeholders and tight regulatory requirements. Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Proficiency with project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera). Relevant project management certification (PMP, PgMP, or equivalent) highly desirable. Familiarity with environmental regulations, permitting processes, and sustainability initiatives related to carbon capture. Ability to work effectively in dynamic environments and manage competing priorities. Experience with technology licensors, EPC contractors, and utility or industrial clients. Knowledge of carbon markets, emissions trading, and government incentive programs. Certifications, Licenses & Registrations Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers. Work in confined spaces; field activities may include walking to and amid work and/or construction sites, climbing in and out of trenches, working around heavy equipment, negotiating rough terrain, loose rock, and confined spaces. Overtime may be required and is anticipated. Working Conditions Travel required and anticipated as 50% across a broad geographic region. Typical workday spent in an office environment; may change depending on location assignment. Work outdoors, weather conditions vary and can be extreme depending upon location. Must work in all weather conditions. Overtime may be required; extended work hours in emergencies. Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours. Successful candidate must clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including a credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to employment. Supervisory Responsibility Technical work direction and oversight of staff and contractors. Compensation and Benefits Annual salary range: $170,000-$200,000 per year. Industry competitive pay.
