Police Officer - Lateral

Overview Redmond Police Department seeks a lateral, sworn law enforcement officer with at least 24 months of continuous full‑time experience within the past five years. The officer will patrol and respond to calls for service, participate in case follow‑up, and contribute to the department’s community policing and public safety initiatives. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED. Minimum 24 months of full‑time sworn law enforcement experience. Licenses and Other Requirements Obtain Washington State law enforcement certification within 15 months of appointment. Meet physical and medical standards and all civil service requirements. Valid Washington State driver's license on hire; out‑of‑state hires must secure a Washington license within required timelines. Minimum age 21 at certification. U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency. Pass RPD background investigation. Selection Process Eligible applicants will receive notification after completing the Personal History Questionnaire and Public Safety Testing. Successful candidates will undergo oral interview, polygraph, psychological exam, drug screening, and extensive background investigation. Automatic Disqualifiers Felony convictions or punishable offenses in Washington. Drug trafficking or violent drug offenses. Incarceration for any crime. Abuse of prescription medication. Dishonorably discharged from the armed forces. Excessive or recent driving violations. Multiple motor‑vehicle accidents with citations. Previous law‑enforcement employment with violations of federal, state, or city law. Serious violations of federal, state, or local laws. Lying or falsifying information during the hiring process. Prior domestic‑violence convictions. Unlawful sexual misconduct. Discretionary Disqualifiers Alcohol or substance misuse. Excessive traffic violations. Felony commission. Unwillingness to honor fiscal contracts or debts. Conduct jeopardizing public trust. Inability to perform essential functions.
