NSC Skilled Trades is seeking experienced Internal Auditors for a project in Tucson, Arizona. Pay: $35-$50/hour. Hours: 24-32 hours/week. Start Date: ASAP. Duration: 6-12 months.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented contractor with experience in internal or external audit to support our Internal Audit team. This role will focus on executing risk-based audits, evaluating controls, and documenting results, while supporting SOX compliance activities as part of the overall control environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute audit procedures across operational, financial, and compliance areas, including SOX controls where applicable
• Perform SOX control testing for business controls in accordance with established testing plans
• Evaluate control design and operating effectiveness and document results in clear, audit-ready workpapers
• Identify control deficiencies and communicate observations to audit leadership with supporting details
• Perform process walkthroughs and document narratives to support risk and control understanding
• Support audit reporting, including drafting observations and contributing to practical recommendations
• Perform data analysis to support testing, identify trends, and assess anomalies

Required:

• Working knowledge of internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO) and SOX requirements
• Experience preparing clear, supportable audit workpapers
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Proficiency in Excel and working with data set.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 25+ years of internal or external audit experience
• Experience with risk-based auditing, control evaluation, and audit execution
