Powertrain Failure Analysis Technician

At Dynamic Manufacturing, Inc., every remanufactured automatic transmission, transfer case, and torque converter we ship has been through rigorous testing. On the rare occasions something doesn’t pass, you’re the person who figures out why.

A day in your role

You start your morning in our clean, well-organized lab space, reviewing overnight test reports. A flagged transmission hits your bench. You methodically diagnose, repair, and retest, documenting each step in our databases. You confer with production, engineering, and quality teammates to share insights, clean your station, and move on to the next case. By afternoon, you’re digesting the latest product and process updates and applying them to improve how we build and test tomorrow’s units.

What you’ll tackle

• Troubleshoot and repair products that fail internal testing
• Inspect and process customer returns under warranty
• Accurately record findings in required databases
• Communicate clearly with supervisors and with production, engineering, and quality teams
• Maintain a safe, orderly workspace and care for tools, test equipment, and computers
• Stay current on product and process changes, following all safety procedures

Credentials and capabilities Minimum qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade/technical schooling preferred
• Safe use of hand tools, including torque wrenches and pneumatic tools
• Basic computer proficiency (mouse/keyboard, OS basics, email)
• Read, write, and communicate effectively in English
• Lift up to 50 lbs without assistance as needed
• Work independently with strong self-motivation
• Interpret work instructions, support documents, and technical manuals
• Learn multiple work areas and shift between them as workflow requires

Preferred

• Bilingual Spanish/English
• Microsoft Office experience (especially Access and Excel)
• Background in automotive, machinery, or electronics repair
• Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics
• Experience with multimeters/ohmmeters
• Use of precision measuring tools (calipers, dial indicators, micrometers, etc.)
• Prior automatic transmission repair experience
• Willingness to train and learn—we will train as necessary

Schedule and pay

First shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday. Competitive weekly pay.
