Commercial Loan Assistant -Tampa, FL

FinTrust Connect has partnered with a regional banking institution to identify top talent for a confidential Commercial Banking Loan Assistant opportunity. This role is ideal for an experienced commercial lending professional who understands loan documentation, processing, closing coordination, and client service and can help ensure commercial loans move accurately and efficiently from application through post-closing.

• Function: Support the processing and fulfillment of simple to semi-complex commercial loans while maintaining documentation accuracy, regulatory compliance, and effective communication among lenders, clients, attorneys, insurance agents, and other stakeholders.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree or additional coursework in banking, finance, or lending preferred
• 3–4 years of experience in commercial lending documentation.
• 3–4 years of Loan Assistant I or comparable experience.
• Solid understanding of commercial loan products, documentation, and processing procedures.
• Knowledge of applicable state and federal lending and documentation requirements.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Description:

• Track commercial loan pipelines, maturities, uninsured items, and past-due reports to support timely processing and follow-up.
• Prioritize loan-processing activities to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
• Provide backup support for other Loan Assistants as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable lending regulations, documentation requirements, policies, and internal procedures.
• Collect and organize borrower documentation, including income verification, credit reports, and identification.
• Enter and maintain accurate information within loan-processing systems.
• Order title searches, UCC searches, appraisals, and flood certifications when required.
• Coordinate loan closings with lenders, attorneys, insurance agents, and clients.
• Initiate the disbursement of closing funds and loan proceeds by check or wire when appropriate.
• Review closed and funded loans for documentation completeness and accurate, timely booking.
• Obtain required post-closing documentation from settlement agents, registers of deeds, and title insurance agencies.
• Maintain tracking for outstanding collateral and post-closing documentation exceptions.
• Provide regular status updates regarding outstanding post-closing items.
• Support approximately 2–3 lenders while maintaining clear communication throughout the loan process.
• Respond to client questions and requests for information in a professional and timely manner.
• Identify loan-processing issues or discrepancies and assist with resolution.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and ensure documents receive appropriate review and approval.
• Follow applicable compliance, security, fraud-prevention, and customer-asset protection requirements.
• Participate in required training and professional-development activities.
• Participate in community activities as applicable.
• Travel for lender or client meetings, team meetings, professional development, site visits, or other business needs when required.
