Mechanical Analysis Engineer

Talascend is currently seeking a Mechanical Analysis Engineer for a remote, contract opportunity with our client. Overview This is a dedicated position focused on analyzing the mechanical performance of various mechanical components and testing equipment under high temperature/pressure environment. Responsibilities Perform stress analysis for test equipment and components using FEA and hand calculations. Present analysis results to internal and external stakeholders. Interface with the mechanical testing teams to ensure test requirements are met. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams on requirements and inputs. Support continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices to maintain the highest quality of engineering design and proactively identify process change/enhancement opportunities. Perform peer review to maintain the expected quality standard as per the engineering quality assurance plan. Work as a technical point of contact for various focus tasks. Qualifications B.S, M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from accredited university. Minimum of 5+ years of related experience with a B.S. degree, or 2+ years with an M.S. degree, or 0+ years with Ph.D. degree. Requirements Proficient in finite element stress analysis, mechanical analysis methods and commercial mechanical stress analysis and modeling tools with emphasis on ANSYS and SolidWorks. Strong understanding of solid mechanics, and materials failure mechanism. Demonstrated experience in structural analysis, buckling analysis, thermal analysis, and seismic analysis. Working experience with equipment design and analysis codes and standards such as AISC, and ASME BPVC and Piping Code. Experienced with conceptual design and sizing equipment and structural components through basic calculation and utilizing Mathcad. Strong communication skills and collaborative teamwork is highly desired. Possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork. Highly skilled performing finite element analysis of mechanical components using Ansys and/or ABAQUS. Experienced with implementing and interpretation of AISC code and ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Code. Working knowledge of computer code development and knowledgeable in programming tools such as Python. Working experience utilizing Mathcad. Previous experience in the nuclear industry.
