Senior Mechanical Engineer - Display

Job DescriptionWeareseekingahighlyskilledMechanicalDesignEngineer to lead the in-house mechanical design and CAD development of next-generation display systems for GM's Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs). In this role, you will be responsibleforcreatinginnovativemechanicaldesignsolutionsthatintegrateadvancedelectronics,stylingrequirements,manufacturability,andvehiclepackagingconstraints.You will own the mechanical architecture and CAD development for display systems, including styled surfaces, decorative components, display panels, PCBs, connectors, mounting strategies, and B-side integration features such as clips, fasteners,andattachmentstructures.SuccessinthisrolerequiresstrongcollaborationacrossEngineering,DesignStudio,Manufacturing,CAE,andsupplierteamstodeliverworld-classdisplayexperiences.This position is ideal forsomeonewhoenjoyssolvingcomplexintegrationchallenges,influencingvehicleprogramsfromconceptthroughproduction,anddrivingbestpracticesinvirtualvehicleintegrationanddisplaydesign.WhatYou'llDoLeadmechanicaldesignandCADdevelopmentforvehicledisplaysystemsandrelatedelectronicsintegration.Create andoptimizepackagingconcepts,virtuallayouts,anddesignsolutionsthatmeetsystem,styling,manufacturing,andprogramrequirements.DevelopandmaintainCADmodels,assemblies,andreleasedatausingGM'sengineeringtoolsanddatamanagementsystems.DrivedisplayintegrationactivitiesthroughoutmultiplephasesoftheGlobalVehicleDevelopmentProcess(GVDP).Performpackagingstudies,clearanceanalysis,tolerancereviews,anddesignevaluationstosupportvehicleintegration.WorkcloselywithCAEteamstoimprovedesignsthroughsimulation,analysis,andvalidationresults.Facilitatedesignreviewsandproviderecommendationsregardingarchitecture,manufacturability,assembly,andsystemintegration.Mentorengineersanddesignersondisplaydesignstandards,CADmethodologies,virtualintegrationprocesses,andbestpractices.Supportcontinuousimprovementthroughlessonslearned,standardsdevelopment,andimplementationofadvancedmodelingtechniques.Releaseengineeringdataanddocumentationontimewithafocusonqualityandcompliance.KeyResponsibilitiesDevelop,refine,andmaintaindisplaydesigncriteria,typicalsections,andstandardmodelingmethods.Ownvirtualintegrationmethodsandbestpracticesfordisplaysystems.ApplyDesignforManufacturing(DFM)andDesignforAssembly(DFA)principlesthroughoutthedesignprocess.Createandmaintainmaterial,mass,andcomponentspecifications.Independentlyintegratesubsystemandcomponentdesignsintocompletevehiclearchitectures.Generatealternativeconceptsandrecommendsolutionsthatbalanceperformance,cost,quality,andmanufacturability.Collaborateeffectivelywithglobalengineeringteams,designstudios,suppliers,andcross-functionalpartners.Staycurrentonemergingdisplaytechnologies,vehicleinteriortrends,andadvancedmanufacturingmethods.RequiredQualificationsBachelor'sdegreeinMechanicalEngineering,ProductDesign,orarelatedtechnicalfieldwith3+yearsofproductdesignexperience,OR10+yearsofproductdesignexperienceinlieuofatechnicaldegree.ExperienceusingGMengineeringtools,including:NXTeamcenterVisMockupCADreleaseanddatamanagementsystemsStrongunderstandingofproductdevelopmentandmanufacturingprocessesincluding:InjectionmoldingStampingMachiningExtrusionKnowledgeofvehicledevelopmentprocessesandengineeringreleasesystems.ExperiencesupportingCAD-baseddesignandvehicleintegrationactivities.WorkingknowledgeofCAE-supporteddesigndevelopment.ProficiencywithMicrosoftOfficeSuite.Abilitytoindependentlysolvecomplexdesignchallengeswhiledrivingalignmentacrosscross-functionalteams.PreferredQualificationsAutomotiveinteriorelectronicsordisplaysystemdesignexperience.Experiencepackagingandintegrating:PCBsElectronicdisplaysConnectorsElectricalhardwareKnowledgeof:StampedmetaldesignCastmetaldesignA-sideandB-sideplasticdesignPaint,plating,andcosmeticsurfacerequirementsStrongunderstandingofquality,manufacturability,andassemblyrequirementsforautomotiveelectronics.Excellentcommunication,collaboration,andleadershipskills.WhyThisRoleYou'll have the opportunity to shape the future of the in-vehicle experience by designing display systems that define how customers interactwithGM'snextgenerationofSoftwareDefinedVehicles.Workingalongsideworld-classengineeringanddesignteams,you'llplayakeyroleinbringinginnovativedisplaytechnologiesfromconcepttoproduction.#LI-JK3 GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
