About the Position

Job Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour; Night 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of Operating Room RN experience required License: Required Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred Must-Have: Oncology Surgery experience with general surgery experience Description: MUST HAVE Oncology Surgery experience along with general surgery experience. Float is required. Minimum level 2 trauma experience is required, with level 1 experience strongly preferred. Candidates should be well-rounded as they will be working outside their specialty. Bi-weekly orientation for Operating Room RN will primarily be day shift with a possible night shift rotation. There may be 1-3 off-shift assignments in a week once every 4-week scheduling period, though many times off-shifting may not be required. Weeknight call requirements are approximately 1-2 nights per week. Weekend call requirements are approximately every 4-5 weeks, requiring 24 hours of coverage on Saturday or Sunday, totaling 1-2 days per month. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated. Experience with a majority of the following cases is required: Whipple, Esophagectomy, Ex Lap, Bowel resection, Thyroidectomy, Parathyroidectomy, Adrenalectomy-Laparoscopic, Neck dissection, Breast reduction, Stage one and two breast reconstruction, Free Flaps, Mastectomy, Lumpectomy, Sentinel lymph node biopsy, and Melanoma excisions. DaVinci experience is highly preferred. Oncology, Orthopedic, and Neurological experience are highly preferred. This is a 100% nicotine-free facility. Scrubs are provided by the facility. Travelers are not paid the same as core staff members and should direct any questions about pay to their agency. Please note that first-time travelers are not accepted. Charting system experience with Epic is required. Do not submit if there are license hits related to Radiology or Respiratory. Weekend and holiday requirements are unit-dependent. Document submission deadlines and lab requirements will apply. This position is intended for those who are not locally residents, with distance criteria established. Candidates must comply with all outlined requirements and responsibilities.
